National ASCE 7 Building Code Committee

Associate Member, 2017 – Present

- Served as one of the subject matter experts in updating the most commonly used building code in the United States to reflect the state-of-art and the state-of-practice in earthquake engineering and seismic hazard design.

ASCE Task Committee on Organizational Efficiency

Committee Member, 2020 – 2021

- Established a strategic work plan to understand the areas where the organization can work more efficiently at macro and micro levels by conducting research and member interviews.

- Developed a strategy through ideation sessions to find innovative solutions that can drive higher organizational efficiency, which was submitted to the Board of Governors as recommendations.

- Partnered with the Board of Governors in dissemination and implementation strategies.

- Drove programs that help advance Society’s educational qualifications and professional standards for the practice of civil engineering.

2024 National Geotechnical Engineering Conference (Geo-Congress 2024)

Conference Chair, 2022 – Present

- Led the conference organizing committee.

- Represented the committee with both internal and external stakeholders.

- Strategically set the focus and the theme of the annual national geotechnical engineering conference that brings together government, industry, and academic professionals to increase participation.

- Appointed the conference chairs and steering committee members, and distributed responsibilities to ensure the conference is attractive for professionals with backgrounds in a diverse range of topics and specialties.

- Worked with the local engineering community to engage local practitioners and local officials.

 

National Outreach and Engagement Committee

Founding Chair, 2015 – 2020

- Designated by the board of governors of the ASCE Geo-Institute as the founding chair of the Outreach and Engagement committee to replace the previous Diversity and Inclusion Committee of the organization to increase member engagement and belonging.

- Formed the first leadership committee and developed the mission, vision, and operating principles for the committee that was endorsed by the Board of Governors.

- Developed a robust program and process to engage the full breadth of the Institute’s membership instating national programs such as New Faces of Geo-Institute that recognize the upcoming leaders of the field and provide them a platform and recognition.

- Provided leadership and raised awareness in all matters of the value of our diverse membership such that the members and the professionals in geo-profession feel included and represented.

- Partnered with other professional organizations and Geo-Institute and ASCE committees leading effective engagement in areas of mutual interest related to matters of outreach and inclusive engagement of all members regardless of diversities.

Speaker's Bureau Chair, 2018-2021

- Developed a roaster of subject matter experts in the committee to promote knowledge sharing on soil dynamics and earthquake engineering research and practice among civil engineers across the US.

- Effectively managed the funding and budget for the speakers bureau, ensuring financial stability and responsible allocation of resources.

- Developed a comprehensive budgeting strategy that accounted for speaker fees, travel expenses, and other related expenditures.

- Conducted regular financial analysis and reporting, providing transparent and accurate updates to the bureau's stakeholders.

Prepared and presented budget proposals and financial reports to ASCE, demonstrating fiscal responsibility and accountability.

- Evaluated the return on investment (ROI) for different speaker engagements and initiatives, utilizing data to make informed decisions and prioritize resource allocation.

- Implemented initiatives and campaigns to generate additional venues, supporting its growth and sustainability.
